SCHOLARSHIPS

In June of 1992, with much foresight and consideration for the students and teachers of the Bellville and Butler community, a group of concerned citizens created the Clear Fork Valley Foundation, a non-profit organization. The Clear Fork Valley Foundation is classified as a 501(c)(3) corporation. The purpose of the Clear Fork Valley Foundation is to foster education within the Clear Fork Valley community and to improve the general well-being of the community with support from the Clear Fork Valley Foundation. The financial resources generated are allocated to groups and individuals to improve the schools and community.

Harold E. McCuen Arts & Humanities Scholarship

Harold E. McCuen Arts and Humanitarian Scholarship was established in 1995 by Anne McCuen. Hal was born and raised in the valley and taught at Clear Fork High School and considered by the people who knew him as one of life's true gifts. He taught each student to believe that they could go as far as their hopes and dreams coudl take them. He was well known for giving a pair of booties to every new baby born in the valley and flooded his friends with happy, chatty notes. He directed musicals at Clear Fork for 17 years so it is fitting that this scholarship be presented in his memory to a student who shared his love for the arts.

This year's recipient was Hallie Barr, who has been in the Velveteen Rabbit production at the Mansfield Playhouse. Her high school plays include Annie, Damn Yankees, Music Man, and Good News, and is in the Artisans high school show choir. She maintained a 4.041 grade point average and plans to attend Ohio Northern University and major in Pharmacy.
