SCHOLARSHIPS
In June of 1992, with much foresight and
consideration for the students and teachers of the Bellville and Butler
community, a group of concerned citizens created the Clear Fork Valley
Foundation, a non-profit organization. The Clear Fork Valley Foundation
is classified as a 501(c)(3) corporation. The purpose of the Clear Fork
Valley Foundation is to foster education within the Clear Fork Valley
community and to improve the general well-being of the community with
support from the Clear Fork Valley Foundation. The financial resources
generated are allocated to groups and individuals to improve the schools
and community.
Doris E. Horn Scholarship in Music
Doris E. Horn Scholarship in Music was established this year by her daughter Mary Lou Delaney to be rpesented to an outstanding student in vocal, instrumental, or piano. Doris was once a teachers and principal at Butler School. She started the Bellville-Butler Music Club in 1932. She passed away in January of this year at the age of 100. The award has been presented for the first time by her grandson and Clear Fork teacher Mike Delany.
This year's recipient, Jamie Smith, has been active in concert, stage, and marching band, for 4 years, Artisan show choir 3 years, vocalist and keyboardist for Clear Fork Jazz Combo for 4 years, vocalist for Dr. Croghan's Jazz Combo/Ensemble for 2 years. Has studied classical voice with Kay Raplenovich for 6 years, in school musicals 4 years, featured soloist in the Town Roast 2002. She has been in the Ariette six girl singing group for 2 years, has studied dance for 3 years, has attended Richland Academy Jazz Camp and the Jamie Ambersole Jazz Camp. Jamie has recently put together a senior recital that was held on May 23, 2004.
